Brittne discovered the beauty of natural earth pigments while living in Baja California Sur, Mexico (2017-2023). While learning the basics in vegetable/plant dyes she spent time exploring the local mountain ranges. The vast range in palette inspired the transition to bringing these materials physically into her paintings. The pigments are gathered in small batches and processed in her studio before being turned into paint. Once this process became more refined and her palette grew this material research would influence her work and community activations.
Brittne started a Baja Midnight Club, a community group that hosts locals and expats through engaging activities such as a free bi-weekly hike club.
Brittne recognizes the privilege of (once) residing and gathering materials as a guest on traditional PericĂș nation lands and is committed to expressing gratitude beyond words.
