Brittne Potter is a Canadian multi-disciplinary artist based in Mexico City, Mexico.
The starting point for Brittne’s work began when she received a rock tumbler as a child and began tumbling precious stones. The interest of natural materials is present throughout her portfolio; fascinated by light, shadow and texture along with the bodily structure of mountainous landscapes.
While obtaining her BFA from Concordia University she fostered community-based projects as her paintings and installation work transitioned to depict rich inner landscapes. Firstly with Centerfold Gallery – a successful event series in that showcased local visual art under a new economic model where creators are funded through the audience’s experience (2015-2018).
Brittne explored natural earthen pigments and plant dyeing techniques while living in Baja California Sur (2021-2023). Baja’s wild landscapes inspired exploration as she began sourcing and processing each pigment before turning it into paint.
As community is an integral part of Brittne’s process, she founded Baja Midnight Club – a creative experience group that promotes a bilingual, inclusive environment along with a bi-weekly hike club and additional offerings.
